My Top Five Games For The Rest Of The Year
Looking for more games to play later this year and not sure what to grab? These are what i’m going to be picking up at some point this year.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger – October 3rd

I cannot stress how excited I am for this. As of writing this, we are two weeks away. I’ve played the demo twice, and from everything I have seen, it’s a huge upgrade from Hacker’s Memory. Digimon roaming the wild, digivolving anywhere, voice acting for characters and Digimon’s special moves. It’s clear they’ve put a lot into making this better than previous entries and I really liked Cyber Sleuth and Hacker’s Memory.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles – September 30th

I haven’t played a FF Tactics game in a while, but I do love turned-based strategy games, so I’m quite excited for these to return. They are also adding in some things that were only in Japanese last time, by the sounds of it? So this is definitely what I’m picking up after I’m done with Digimon.
Trials in the Sky 1st Chapter – September 19th

I’ve recently spent some time catching up with this series (just waiting on Horizon’s English release now), so I’m ready for this. The action addition to the series is growing on me, but I do think they’ve lost a little of the charm the older look of the games had until after Azure. The demo of this game was solid, though, and it sounds as though they’re listening to fan feedback.
Octopath Traveler 0 – December 4th

I’m a big fan of the Octopath games, although maybe not so much their superbosses. They’ve already said Octopath 0 has a town building feature, which I love in games (looking at Ni No Kuni 2 here), so I’m excited for that. It’s also a prequel to give us even more lore? It’s not looking too expensive either.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A – October 16th

Now I don’t have a Switch 2 yet (I’m enjoying my Steam Deck too much), but I do want to play this, so I haven’t decided if I’ll pick this up soon or next year when I do get one (especially looking at one for the new Fire Emblem game). But this is looking pretty decent overall, it has a decent premise, and it’s bringing back Megas, which is still Pokémon’s best gimmick.
