30 Micro-Chores That Take Less Than 3 Minutes (And Still Count)
Some days you’ve got the energy of a teaspoon left at the bottom of a mug. And on those days, a full home “reset” doesn’t happen.
But here’s the good news: tiny chores still count, they don’t need to be impressive, they don’t need to be perfect, they just need to be small enough that your brain doesn’t say no.
This list is built for those moments, 30 micro-chores you can do in under 3 minutes to make your space feel a bit calmer, without turning your day into a cleaning saga.
How to use this list (without getting overwhelmed)

Try the Pick 3 Method:
- Pick one that’s visible.
- Pick one that’s practical.
- Pick one that’s tiny.
That’s it. Three. Then you’re done. Biscuit after is optional but most definitely encouraged.
Kitchen micro-chores (under 3 minutes)
- Put dishes into the dishwasher (you don’t even have to run it, just loading).
- Wipe the kitchen sides with a cloth or wipe.
- Throw away obvious rubbish on the counters.
- Clear and wipe the sink.
- Put away 5 things that don’t belong in the kitchen.
- Empty the draining rack (even if you only put away a few bits).
- Replace the tea towel with a clean one.
- Quick sweep of crumbs in one high-traffic spot (by the kettle/toaster).
- Refill the washing-up liquid/hand soap.
- Put a new bin liner in.
Living room micro-chores (under 3 minutes)
- Do a “sofa sweep”: chuck cushions back in place and fold one blanket.
- Put away 5 items that don’t live in this room.
- Quick tidy of the coffee table.
- Gather stray mugs/plates and take them to the kitchen.
- Bin anything obvious (wrappers, receipts, random paper).
- Straighten one messy corner (pick just one!).
- Put the remote(s) back in their “home” spot.
- Wipe a dusty surface you actually notice (TV stand/shelf edge).
- Plump cushions and open a window for 60 seconds.
- Light a candle/pop on a cosy scent (not a chore, but will likely make you smile).
Bedroom micro-chores (under 3 minutes)

- Make the bed badly (pull duvet up, pillows roughly placed = done).
- Put dirty clothes in the laundry basket.
- Put clean clothes in one “not on the floor” place (back of the chair works).
- Clear your bedside surface (even if it’s just moving things into a tray).
- Throw out old tissues/cups/packaging.
- Put tomorrow’s outfit in a single pile.
- Match socks from a small handful.
- Quick “hanger sweep”: hang up 3 items.
- Tidy your charging area (unplug, untangle, place phone neatly).
- Open the curtains.
Bathroom micro-chores (under 3 minutes)
Bonus mini-list if you want extra options:
- Clean the sink and taps.
- Quick wipe around the toilet (seat + rim).
- Put out a clean hand towel.
- Chuck empties into the bin.
- Put products back in a basket/tray.
The “If I can only do ONE thing” pick
Choose one based on what would help most right now:
- Surface reset: clear and wipe one surface (kitchen side/coffee table/bedside).
- Bin reset: empty the bin and swap the bag.
- Laundry reset: move dirty clothes into the laundry basket.
- Sink reset: clear the sink and wipe it.
One thing is enough. One thing is progress.
Make micro-chores easier (tiny set-ups that help)
- Keep a pack of wipes somewhere easy (kitchen + bathroom).
- Put a small bin in the rooms where rubbish magically appears.
- Use baskets/trays for “stuff that doesn’t have a home yet”.
- Set a recurring 3-minute timer once a day (same time, no thinking).

Final Thoughts
Micro-chores won’t solve everything. But they do help your space feel a little less messy, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need. Plus, remember it’s never a bad thing to turn to professionals, such as looking into Commercial Cleaning Cheltenham, if you need to! Asking for help is a huge part of self-care.
If you try this, tell me your favourite “tiny win” (mine is the surface reset).

Great list, now I need a poster version to have on my kitchen wall!
I have a white kitchen sink, eveytime I am in the kitchen I rinse it round, can’t imagine how filthy my previous sink was as you couldn’t see the dirt
Great idea, I’ve already done a few of these this morning, loaded the dishwasher, made the bed and cleaning the kitchen surfaces
Micro chores add up quickly so you get plenty done in less time
that’s such a handy list!!
Woe
What a good idea! Sometimes, chores feel mountainous and just too big to do when you’re tired. Breaking them into micro tasks is a manageable and satisfying way to get underway.
